At Arenal Oasis we have created the perfect habitat for butterflies to live in their natural environment. Our Geodesic Dome is an innovative structure that maximizes the use of the environment, taking advantage of sunlight for plant growth, flower and fruit production, and ecosystem balance.
With 14 meters in height and 24 meters in diameter, this is the largest butterfly dome in Costa Rica. Inside, you will find a beautiful garden with a waterfall fountain and two streams that flow into a natural pool.
The water is filtered by aquatic plants and reused, ensuring a self-sustaining ecosystem.
The trails are well marked and include four small bridges and a pool with colorful fish, which also contribute to the balance of the environment. In addition, there is an elevated platform from where you can admire the flight of the butterflies and the lush beauty of the garden from a unique perspective.
From the canopy of plants and shrubs, you can watch brightly colored butterflies flying around you, while enjoying stunning views of the Arenal Volcano and the secondary forest of the Arenal Oasis nature reserve.
At the base of the platform, you will find a structure with giant wings inspired by the majestic Blue Morpho, the national butterfly of Costa Rica, ideal for capturing unforgettable memories. A perfect place to connect with nature
This butterfly house is a magical setting for event, wedding, birthday or social media photos. We also have a puparium, where you can marvel at the chrysalises of various species of butterflies and witness the fascinating process of metamorphosis: from the moment they emerge, spread and dry their wings, to their first flight among the flowers and fruits.
In the outdoor gardens, you will discover a great diversity of flowering plants, fruit trees, medicinal plants, orchids, mushrooms, Mariola hives (stingless bees) and more. In addition, in our nursery, we carry out the reproduction cycle of butterflies, ensuring the conservation of these incredible creatures.
